NOIDA: An individual, identified as Atul (25), was arrested and injured in an encounter with the police in Bisrakh police station of Greater Noida on Tuesday, an official said.
According to the Noida police, during a routine check, they stopped a suspect riding a Passion Pro motorcycle without a number plate near Charmurti. The suspect tried to escape towards ATS Gol Chakkar, but upon being chased by the police, opened fire with the intent to kill the officers.
In self-defense, the police fired, injuring the suspect in the leg.He was then taken to the hospital for treatment, according to the police.
Atul, a resident of Mundee Bakapur village in Bulandshahr district, was found in possession of an illegal firearm and cartridges. The suspect and associates are involved in repossessing financed vehicles.
Earlier, while attempting vehicle recovery, they were denied alcohol at a liquor shop in Haibatpur, leading to the shooting of a salesman.
An FIR has been registered under IPC sections 302 and 504 at Bisrakh police station. The injured suspect faces multiple charges, and the police are working to apprehend other suspects involved in the incident.
