Dharwad: The 16th edition of Dharwad District Kannada Sahitya Sammelana has passed a resolution, urging the govt to ensure the nameboards on commercial establishments are 100% in Kannada.
Jinadatt Hadagali placed before the audience three resolutions on Friday, the concluding day of the two-day Sammelana at Sannidhi hall here.
Sammelana has set Nov 1 as the deadline to implement the resolution.The other two resolutions are introduction of Kannada as a subject in vocational courses and considering the marks obtained by candidates in the subject while awarding rank/class, and making primary education in govt Kannada schools compulsory.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) Mahesh Joshi said parishat is committed to fighting against the closure of Kannada-medium schools in the state, and it has been taking concrete steps to ensure that the govt does not allow the closure of any Kannada school. State Human Rights Commission member Suresh Vantagodi said they are working towards safeguarding the human rights
