Kanpur: Police have arrested three people for pressurising the Under-23 cricket team selectors for selection of their candidate by posing as chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ansh Mishra (20) alias Cheenu son of Atal Mishra, Atal Mishra (51) son of Raghunath Mishra and Ishan Mishra (22), all residents of Barra 2 area of the city.
The commissionerate police, in a communique, stated that the arrested imposter made phone calls and sent messages to the selectors in the name of chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra for selection of one Ishan Mishra in the U-23 team.
Cases under sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 120 (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 66 D of IT Act have been lodged against the three and all three have been arrested.
