Truck Topples Off Bridge, Driver Dies | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: A 22-year-old driver died after a truck toppled off the overbridge on the GT road highway in Shivrajpur police area of the district on Friday.
Ranjit Kumar Pal, son of Sitaram Pal and resident of Alamau Jagannathpur village of Gopiganj police station area of Sant Ravidas Nagar district, was heading towards Kanpur via Bilhaur Shivrajpur after loading goods in his truck.He had just reached the overbridge in front of Dubiana village when the truck went out of control, hit the divider on the highway, fell down and overturned. Ranjit got trapped under the truck, killing him immediately. Police arrived on the spot and pulled out his body from under the truck with the help of a crane.
The police said that prima facie it appeared that the driver lost control over the truck after it developed a technical glitch, and skidded off the highway.
Shivraj police station incharge Shivkaran Verma said that after informing the family, the body was taken into custody and sent for post-autopsy. “Further investigations are underway,” he added.

5 killed, 7 injured as truck overturns in Odisha’s Malkangiri
Five labourers died and seven were injured in Malkangiri, Odisha when a truck transporting them overturned. The incident occurred at Hantalaguda ghat in the Swabhiman Anchal area. The truck was en route from Chitrakonda to Jodamba with 12 laborers on board. The police and local residents extricated the deceased workers who were trapped under cement bags. The injured were taken to a nearby government hospital for medical attention.
