Solving Problems for Micro and Small Industries: Key to Growth | Mangaluru News – Times of India

Mangaluru: Overall development in the industrial sector is possible only when problems of micro and small enterprises are adressed, said K Jayaprakash Hegde, chairman of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission.
He was speaking after inaugurating an outreach programme on financial literacy for micro and small industries held at the Canara Industries Association hall, Baikampady, on Saturday.
“Micro and small industries will be able to grow when they are given financial support and their problems are solved. I will arrange a meeting with the industries minister to discuss problems of small industries,” he said.
He called upon youths to set up industries, rather than focusing only on securing a job. Lauding the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA), Hegde said that the programme organised by the association not only creates awareness, but also helps industries avail financial support from banks.
KASSIA president Shashidhar Shetty said that there is a lack of awareness on various schemes and subsidies announced by central and state governments for the promotion of MSMEs. “Most of the schemes and subsidies do not reach the beneficiaries due to lack of guidance and awareness. We have already held awareness programmes in 11 districts successfully to strengthen MSMEs,” he added.
