Kanpur: Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person for using abusive language and raising slogans on the day of Ram Lalla’s consecration in a private college in Bhaunti area under the limits of Sachendi police station of the district.
The matter came to light after a video showing an unidentified student using abusive language for another religion, went viral on Tuesday.Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Panki Tej Bahadur Singh said that the identity of the person in the video could not be ascertained. “However, a case has been registered at Sachendi police station under section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion), 295A (punishment for the deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings) 298 (uttering, words, with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person) of IPC. Investigation in the matter is underway. On the other hand, the institute is in the process of rusticating the student after identifying him,” the ACP added.
In another case, police have lodged a case in connection with a viral video in the user, after uploading religious photos, added indecent songs to it. “Taking cognizance of the video, necessary legal action is being taken by registering a case under IPC sections including 153 B, 295 A, 298, 504 and 505 (11) at Juhi police station,” stated a release issued by the commissionerate police on X. The commissionerate police appealed to the citizens to not forward such posts on social media nor make comments on it.
