LUCKNOW: Praveen Kumar, inspector general, Ayodhya Range, who is a key official handling law and order and an unprecedented flow of devotees during and after the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla, has written an ode to the temple town that has won all-round applause on social media. The video of his poem, which he has also recited, has already generated over 20,000 views on YouTube and has been shared widely on Facebook and Insta.
Kumar, an IPS officer of 2001 batch, is a tough cop with a heart of poet-writer.His latest poetry collection ‘Deh Man Madhyam Tukhare Yog Ka’, published this month, is a philosophical take on life. His first collection ‘Woh Ek Aur Man‘ received Hindi Sansthan award in 2021.
Interestnigly, Kumar is a civil engineer by education, having done his BE from BITS, Pilani.
The poem titled ‘Aao Ayodhya Dham’ paints a vivid picture of the temple town capturing both its historicity and spirituality. It has been praised for its beauty and depth. Kumar says he wrote it to educate cops about Ayodhya, and to welcome every visitor and guest with respect, as per our tradition.
In line with the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath to impart behavioural skills to cops, Kumar got the idea to inculcate ‘Ram bhakti’ in them but also to educate the personnel about the history and importance of Ayodhya.
“I wanted to create something that not only equipped the officers with knowledge of Ayodhya’s rich tapestry but also embodied the very essence of Lord Rama,” explains Kumar. His single-handed efforts in crafting security plans and imbuing soft skills in his team have already earned him acclaim. But this, he felt, was where he could truly make a difference.
‘Aao Ayodhya Dham’, a lyrical journey through the heart of the holy city, begins with a grand salutation to devotees. With each verse, Kumar paints a vivid picture of Ayodhya’s timeless landmarks, like Hanumangarhi, Kanak Bhawan & Ram temple.
It talks about the cleansing power of the Sarayu, assuring calm of Mani Parvat, spiritual quest of its Akharas and the depth of the evening aarti at the ghats.
