Ludhiana: Days after deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Dilpreet Singh died of a cardiac arrest at a gym near Bhai Bala Chowk of Ludhiana city, a Congress leader died of cardiac arrest while exercising at a gym located in Khanna.
Congress leader Gurminder Singh Laali, 52, was running on the treadmill when he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital by people in the gym.However, doctors declared him dead.
Laali’s brother said that the incident took place at around 6am. Eyewitnesses said that he was running on the treadmill when he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Laali used to go to the gym every day. He is survived by his wife and two sons, one of whom lives abroad. His body has been kept in the mortuary till the time his son returns.
The senior Congress leader is a five-time councillor.
He also served as chairperson of the Khanna Improvement Trust during the Congress government. On Feb 22, DSP Dilpreet Singh, who was posted in Malerkotla, died of a heart attack while working out in the gym.
