Ramgarh: The rail route between Barkakana and Ranchi via Mesra is likely to be reopened for passenger trains soon after safety measures are implemented.
It was closed on August 2, following a landslide between Sidhwar (Ramgarh) and Sanki (Ranchi).
The chief public relation officer (CPRO) of the East Central Railway (ECR), Birendra Kumar, said the general manager (GM) of the ECR, Hajipur zone, A K Khandelwal, inspected the terrain on the route and reviewed the safety measures.
The GM also visited the Dhanbad division of the ECR and inspected the Barkakana junction, the Patratu level crossing, and the Mesra railway station.
Barkakana-Ranchi via Mesra route was plied by Vande Bharat when it was launched in June 2023 but was later diverted via Muri on August 2 following the landslide.
