Ludhiana: The city received 26mm rain between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Thursday, bringing down maximum temperature to 14.6°C, six notches below the normal.
Over the past day, the mercury plunged by five degrees. The meteorological department has predicted more rain for Saturday, but the weather is expected to be clear on Friday.
Even as it had rained in Ludhiana on Wednesday morning, weather had mostly remained dry in the city during the day.However, the sky turned overcast by Wednesday night and it started raining heavily on Thursday morning. The city also received hail, though briefly and mostly around Dugri.
Minimum temperature in Ludhiana was recorded at 12.4°C , which is six degrees more than normal.
For Friday, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted: “Fog/mist in the morning and mainly clear sky later”. Its prediction for Saturday states: “Partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.” There are chances of light rain Sunday, according to the forecast. tnn
