Noida: Twelve people were arrested from the Phase 1 area for allegedly operating an illegal call centre and cheating US citizens on the pretext of selling them anti-virus software, police said. Investigation revealed the accused would call foreign nationals and offer them anti-virus software for US $100-$500 per year. If the victims agreed to buy the software, they would ask them to pay through an email link.The money would then be credited to their accounts, police said. An FIR has been registered under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) as well as relevant sections of the IT Act and further investigation is underway. tnn
