Drug haul case: Saki Naka police take custody of Bhushan Patil, associate Abhishek Balkawade – Times of India

MUMBAI: On Wednesday, Saki Naka police took custody of Bhushan Patil and his associate Abhishek Balkawade from their counterpart in Pune in a Rs 305-crore mephedrone drug haul case.
With this, the Saki Naka police arrested a total of 20 people in the drug seizure after the first arrest was made on August 8.
Meanwhile, the Pune police have taken custody of the drug racketeer Lalit Patil after he was sent to Arthur Road Jail on Tuesday.
Lalit Patil gave Pune Police security cover a slip and ran away from their custody at Sassoon Hospital on October 2.
Meanwhile, the Pune Police also took custody of Patil’s accomplices—supplier Shivaji Shinde and technical Rahul Pandit alias Rohitkumar Chowdhary—from Mumbai.
The trio were produced before the Pune court on Wednesday and are remanded in Pune police custody till November 7.
“The two brothers were manufacturing the drugs in rented premises which they showed as Shree Ganeshay Pharmaceuticals in Nashik. They were helped by one of the arrested accused Harish Pant to install the drug-making machine. Pant is known by the name ‘doctor’,” said a police officer of the Saki Naka police station.
Sakinaka police busted the racket that manufactured the drugs at Shree Ganeshay Pharmaceuticals which is in Shinde village on the outskirts of Nashik.
“Pant who was the 18th arrested in the case revealed that he has helped in making and installing the drug manufacturing machine at different places across Maharashtra. They sold the drugs in the MMR region, Nashik, and Pune,” said the Saki Naka police.
Police said that they have also seized a diary from the house of one of the accused in which detailed information about several drug distributors who supplied mephedrone to the Patil brothers. Peddlers details and the supply network of the gang that operated in Mumbai, Nashik, and Pune.
