CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K Selvaperunthagai on Friday called the money obtained by the BJP via electoral bonds the biggest scam after independence.
Speaking to reporters at his party headquarters in Chennai, Selvaperunthagai said, “Through electoral bonds, the BJP has done scientific corruption. This is the biggest and mega scam after independence. The scam has come to light after the intervention of the Supreme Court.”
“The central enforcement agencies such as the IT, the CBI and the ED were misused by the BJP. Our leader Rahul Gandhi had consistently raised the issue in the Parliament and had said that BJP would one day be exposed in his mega scam,” Selvaperunthagai said.
After the SBI submitted the details of the electoral bonds to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the details were released by the ECI on Monday. Ever since the release, the opposition parties have been training their guns on the BJP.
The Congress leader said, “On seeing the dates of the IT and ED raids and the date of the purchase of the electoral bonds, it is clear that the raids were carried out only to threaten the companies and to get funds from them.”
Giving details about the companies that donated to BJP, Selvaperunthagai said that Qwik Supply Chains Pvt Ltd donated Rs 400 crore to the BJP but the annual turnover of the company is just Rs 500 crore. Similarly, Future Gaming and Hotel Services Pvt Ltd had donated Rs 1,386 crore to the BJP but the turnover of the company is just Rs 500 crore.
“How would a company which has a turnover of Rs 500 donate Rs 1,386 crore? Prime Minister Narendra Modi should answer this. Annamalai, who is a traitor of Tamil Nadu, should reply about this,” said Selvaperunthagai, who also raised a suspicion whether money laundering was involved in this.
