KALYAN: In a operation near the Subhash chowk area in Kalyan, the State Excise Department seized liquor worth Rs 43 lakh transporting illegally in Kalyan.
After receiving specific information about the consignment, a team of Kalyan State Excise officials formed a team and intercepted a tempo carrying a huge amount of illegally transported liquor boxes.
Officials said that, during an inspection of the suspicious truck, officials found more than 48,400 liquor bottles in 484 boxes. When probed, the driver failed to provide satisfactory answers. The officials have arrested both Sainath Ramgirwar,27 and Amardeep Fuljhele,29.
“These bottles were transported illegally without any valid documents, and the tempo driver and his accomplice were subsequently arrested in connection with the case,” State Excise officials said.
The accused were produced before court which remanded them 7 days police custody.
The Excise Department team at Kalyan is currently investigating the matter from where and whose liquor they were transporting illegally.
