GURGAON: The families of two Faridabad women who died by the time they were brought to hospitals have accused their in-laws of killing them for dowry.
While the family of one woman alleged she was beaten to death, the parents of another claimed she was poisoned. The second woman had given birth to a baby boy a few weeks ago. A resident of Nehru Colony in Faridabad, Anjali got married to Prince Lohiya of Delhi in 2021.
“Her father-in-law would often ask her to bring money from home.She recently took almost Rs 60,000 in three installments, but her in-laws would beat her often ,” her father Indrajeet said. On Thursday evening, Anjali’s in-laws informed her parents that she had died and they should collect the body. “We rushed to the local hospital where doctors said she had died by the time her in-laws brought her. We were told that our daughter had died by poisoning,” Indrajeet said.
Sube Singh, a spokesperson for Faridabad police, said, “The family reached Dabua police station to register a complaint against their daughter’s in-laws. But we explained to them that they should register the case with Delhi Police as the woman had died there. We learnt that an FIR was lodged at Dera Fatehpur police station in Delhi under sections of dowry harassment and murder.”
On Saturday morning, the family of Sonia Monga – a resident of Elite Premium Society in Greater Faridabad – alleged that she was tortured to death by her in-laws. “We received a call from my sister’s husband that she had died at a hospital. But the doctor told us that she was dead even before she was brought to the hospital,” said Mona, her sister.
