Puri superintendent of police Kanwar Vishal Singh said the cameras not only have wider coverage but also provide better clarity.According to Singh, the cameras will help identify criminals and alert the police about the movement of wanted goons whose information is already stored in a database.
“The highest level of security protocol is being ensured using the latest technology, gadgets and trained manpower at the heritage corridor. The cameras have face reading abilities,” Singh said.
Inspector general of police (central range) Ashish Singh and Puri SP on Friday reviewed the security arrangements for the ensuing grand opening of Shree Jagannath Parikrama Prakalp.
Various religious activities started on Friday in the run-up to a 3-day yajna, starting January 15. Temple administration said an ‘Acharya Barun and Ankur Ropan’ puja was performed at the royal palace of Puri king Dibyasingha Deb on Friday evening.
“We have made adequate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the pre-yajna sacred activities. Sufficient force and officers will be deployed for the safety, security, sanctity and access control of the yajna mandap and veda patha areas,” IGP Singh said.

For the time being, he said 44 platoons of police force, five ASPs, 10 DSPs, 30 inspectors and 140 SIs/ASIs have been deployed for smooth conduct of the religious activities and safety of the heritage corridor.
“We have laid focus on augmentation of our existing police force and officers for a hassle-free darshan system in the temple.
