Surat: An 11-year-old schoolgirl was raped allegedly by a school autorickshaw driver in Athwalines area of city. Police have arrested 41-year-old man and started an investigation.
According to police, the accused was addicted to watching porn on his mobile phone. Police said that the incident occurred on March 7 after the accused picked the girl from her house for school.As the girl was alone in his autorickshaw, the accused took the vehicle in an isolated lane and allegedly raped her in the autorickshaw. The accused also threatened to set the girl ablaze if she told about the incident to anybody.
A concerned citizen informed the police about the incident following which the accused was arrested.
Police said that the accused had confessed to the crime. He was booked for rape, molestation, intimidation and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides different sections of the POCSO Act. Police have seized the mobile phone of the accused and sent it for forensic testing.
