Gurgaon: A 25-year-old man, who allegedly raped a mentally challenged woman in Manesar last year, was arrested on Sunday. Rakesh alias Thakur told police that he kept changing his locations for nine months from Bihar, UP to MP to evade arrest.
Cops said Rakesh was accused of raping a woman on June 7 last year in Manesar, and had been on the run since then.On Sunday, he returned to his village Kherla, when police acted on a tip-off and nabbed him.
During the interrogation, he also confessed to being a drug addict. He also has a criminal record and is a habitual offender with a propensity for violence.
“He has a previous case of loot and Arms Act registered against him in Bilaspur police station in the city,” Naresh Sukhralia, police spokesperson, said. Rakesh has been produced in court, which has remanded him to judicial custody on Sunday.
