Mla Condemns Tangadagi’s Statements Against Pm Modi | Mangaluru News – Times of India

Mangaluru: BJP MLA Harish Poonja has condemned the controversial statement by Kannada and culture minister Shivaraj Tangadagi, which suggested that youths chanting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name should be slapped. Poonja challenged him to fill vacant government posts if he truly has concern for youths.
Poonja told reporters on Wednesday, that this statement indicates that the Congress has accepted defeat in the election.“Their intolerance and hate speech during elections are not new, and even their top leaders have used insulting language against Modi. Whenever such remarks were made, the voters have taught them a lesson in the election,” he said.
The MLA asked the minister to remember that Modi has created crores of jobs in the country. The Belthangady MLA said that village accountant (VA) vacancies increased to 90 in Dakshina Kannada, and blamed the Congress government in the state for not conducting recruitment for vacant government posts. He said there are also huge vacancies in health and other departments.
To a query on why the previous BJP government did not fill the vacant posts of VAs, MLA Poonja said that there was a “legal hurdle”.
He explained that VAs are recruited directly, by considering the marks of II PU exam. Due to the Covid pandemic, all II PU students were promoted, hence making it difficult to select candidates on the basis of merit. Further, he said the recruitment is not conducted unless the vacancies cross 50%. tnn
