Noida: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, MLA Pankaj Singh met residents over the weekend and discussed civic issues with them.
Singh assured them that incidents like the fire at a dumpyard near the city centre would not happen again.
“During discussions at the Sector 35 residence of DDRWA president NP Singh, concerns were raised regarding the fire at the Sector 32 dumpsite, which had persisted for five days, posing health risks to nearby residents,” said Sher Singh Bhati, general secretary of DDRWA.
Singh acknowledged the severity of the situation and promised decisive action to prevent such occurrences in future. He also agreed to explore the feasibility of a helicopter service to combat fires, particularly in high-rise buildings. Singh also promised action on the lack of a fire fighting system and ETP/grease trap in the community centres built by the Noida Authority.
In the meeting with the District Development Residents Welfare Association (DDRWA), and the Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA) he promised a barricading at the U-turn near Sector 52 metro station to prevent wrong-side driving and plans for a public transport system.
Apart from seeking votes for BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from GB Nagar, Mahesh Sharma, Singh also listened to sanitation and horticulture problems raised by residents. “A meeting with Noida Authority officials is planned to take the matter forward,” said KK Jain, secretary general of FONRWA.
