PUNE: NCP founder Sharad Pawar’s grandnephew Rohit Pawar said on Saturday that he was not scared of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) searches linked to Baramati Agro Limited.
“Such actions will not impact me. I will not change my stance and ideology out of fear,” he said. The ED carried out searches at multiple locations in the state on Friday. Rohit was abroad and returned to India early on Saturday morning.
He spoke with reporters in Pimpri Chinchwad. “If I had done wrong, I would have extended my stay abroad. I came back to India, since I have not done anything wrong,” the Karjat-Jamkhed MLA said.
Rohit criticised the ruling alliance’s alleged political use of central agencies against opposition leaders. “If they thinking that I will switch parties out of fear, they are wrong.”
He also criticised deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis over his statement that some people like to call themselves martyr by crying foul over ED searches. Rohit said, “I was surprised to hear this, since I have never made any such statement. People of the country well know the motive behind such actions.”
‘Rohit is a kid’
Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar was asked about Rohit’s allegations against the ruling alliance. He said, “Rohit is still a kid. He has not become so big that I should reply to him. My party workers are enough to respond to him.”
