BELAGAVI: Gokak MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi of BJP claimed talk by Congress of his party toppling the government was “politically motivated” and that Operation Lotus was near impossible.
He said the government would implode like Shiv Sena-NCPCongress coalition did in Maharashtra. Jarkiholi, who in 2019 was instrumental in toppling the JD(S)-Congress coalition government, said on Monday: “Shivakumar’s drama company is trying to tarnish BJP’s name by making false statements.Why is he repeatedly bringing up the issue of Operation Lotus?” He claimed BJP had no hand in toppling the coalition government in 2019 and that it was all his doing.
“It was my rebellion against DK Shivakumar,” he said. “At that time, we needed only eight to 10 MLAs to switch sides and we planned the operation for more than 10 months. But the scenario this time is different. Congress is in a much better position, so Operation Lotus is impossible.”
He said the government faces threats from within rather than without and that “Shivakumar and company” will be responsible for the fall. “It is the drama company of DK Shivakumar which is talking about Operation Lotus and Rs 50 crore bribes and not BJP.
BELAGAVIAs long as Shivakumar is in politics, this government is in danger. This government will collapse due to Shivakumar’s Belagavi company. If it does, it may happen like in Maharashtra.”
