Silchar: The 31st Silchar Book Fair Committee is preparing to host the Silchar Book Fair at the Bipin Chandra Pal ground in Silchar from November 18 to November 29, Haran Dey, chairman of the committee, along with general secretary Biplab Pal Chowdhury, said on Wednesday.
However, they expressed concerns about the declining interest in books and urged parents and teachers to encourage students to read.They said reading books is irreplaceable in shaping students into ideal citizens.
The Silchar Book Fair will feature participation from esteemed publishing groups, including the National Book Trust, Kolkata, Guwahati, and Agartala, as well as local publishers. Approximately 30 stalls have been set up to offer an array of literary works.
The committee has placed a special emphasis on launching new books each evening during the fair. Publishing houses and authors have been invited to contact the committee directly to partake in this initiative. To enrich the book lovers’ experience, the book fair will introduce new publishing groups and an expanded collection of books from both domestic and international sources. Attendees can look forward to poetry sessions, discussions, and cultural events taking place daily at the fair.
A three-day literary discussion program is also in the works. This will provide a platform for literary enthusiasts to engage in thought-provoking conversations.
