Daltonganj: The Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway (ECR) has identified 20 vulnerable stretches on its Up and Down lines and asked the authorities/nearest railway station concerned to maintain vigil in order to prevent accidents at the unmanned railway tracks during the upcoming Chhath festival.
Daltonganj railway station superintendent Umesh Kumar said, “Special caution will be effective from November 17 to November 20.The engine crew of all trains have been directed to keep tabs by long whistling/blowing horn while passing through the vulnerable stretches to prevent mishaps.”
The engine crew have been asked to stop the train if a huge crowd of devotees pass through. The safety of the common man have been prioritised during the upcoming Chhath festival, said sources.
The railway traffic inspector posted at the Daltonganj railway station, Anil Kumar Tiwary, said, “The ECR Dhanbad division has identified five locations — west end of the Garhwa road junction, Tolra, Lalgarh, Pajri, and Amanat — between Barwadeeh station and Garhwa road junction. These locations are declared sensitive and highly prone to trespassing where caution note is valid and applicable.”
The railway traffic inspector at the Barkakana railway junction, Vivek Kumar Sahay, said, “Vigil will be intensified at the over 20 vulnerable locations that have been identified between the Barkakana railway junction in Jharkhand and the Dumri railway station in Bihar.”
