Rajkot: The Morbi police found the torso of an infant about 2-4 hours old near Nazarbaug area on Wednesday. A local informed the police about the body near the garbage. The body was sent to Rajkot for forensic postmortem. J L Zala, police sub-inspector of Morbi B Division police station said, “We are trying to identify the body. We are also searching the other parts of the body in nearby areas.We hope to get some leads after the forensic PM.” It’s suspected that the body was dumped in the garbage and dug out by stray dogs.
Labourer killed in freak accident
Rajkot: A 20-year-old man died after his head got crushed by a cargo lift in a factory in Rajkot on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Vishal Vishvakarma, a native of Uttar Pradesh. He had arrived in Rajkot on Sunday to work in the factory. The doors of the cargo lift remain open as it carries goods. According to police, Vishvakarma’s head was out when the lift was in motion and it got crushed between the lift and the duct wall, killing him on the spot.

A 24-year-old man, Akash Godwali, was arrested in Vadodara by cybercrime sleuths for allegedly siphoning over Rs 5 lakh from Madhuri Thakkar’s bank account. Godwali, who was allotted Thakkar’s old mobile number, activated a UPI account connected to her bank and transferred the money to various bank accounts, including his friends’. Thakkar discovered the fraud when an EMI for a refrigerator purchase failed to go through and filed a complaint on December 29, 2023.
