Jamshedpur: The increasing cold temperatures has driven the private English schools in the city to change their assembly timings. While several schools have already implemented the change in their time table from Tuesday, some have announced to execute it shortly.
The schools normally begin at 7.30 am and get dismissed at 1.30 pm but due to change in the weather condition in the past five days, the management decided to start classes at 8 am and get over at 2 pm.About 30 schools have changed their timings starting from December 11.
DBMS English High School, Kadma, in their notice, stated that the revised timing has come into effect from December 12 and the same will be followed in the month of January too. The St Mary’s English School has announced to implement the revised timing from December 18.
“The timing for kindergarten students is 8 am to 12 pm but revised timetable will come into effect for primary and upper classes from December 18,” St Mary’s English School, spokesperson, A K Pandey, said.
“Since the past four days, there has been a sharp drop in temperature and our child feels extremely cold while going to school early morning,” said Sanjay Sharma, whose daughter studies in Kerala Public School.
Meanwhile, the city has recorded a minimum temperature of 11.4 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours and the maximum temperature has been recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD, Ranchi. The weather officials have said that there won’t be any further sharp drop in the minimum temperature in the upcoming days.

IITM’s air quality early warning system forecasts continued very poor air quality until Sunday, with a slight improvement expected next week.
