Surat: A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing a woman by throwing her from the 10th floor of an apartment building in Jahangirpura area of the city on Tuesday.
Police arrested Juned Noor Mohammad Badshah (28) for the murder of Habibabanu Sidi (26), a resident of Rajpipla in Narmada district. She died on the spot after she was thrown from the 10th floor of Suman Vandan-2 Apartment.
According to police, Habibabanu was engaged to Juned’s brother but she broke up about 1.5 years ago. After she broke up, Juned started interacting with Habibabanu and developed a friendship with her.
“We are investigating if accused Juned had plotted the murder to take revenge for breaking engagement with his brother,” said a police official.
“After developing a friendship over Instagram, they had decided to meet at Juned’s house in Suman Vandan-2 apartment on Tuesday. They both argued over some issues and started hitting each other. They came out of the house fighting. During the scuffle, Juned allegedly threw Habibabanu from the lobby of the 10th floor,” police told TOI. Police said that Juned had an injury on his face with a sharp-edged weapon. He alleged that Habibabanu had attacked him with a knife.
