Tadoba tiger count rising, experts fear reserve on cusp of saturation
The Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in India has seen an increase in its tiger population, with the number rising from 87 in 2022 to 93 in 2023. The survey involved monitoring tigers and prey over a 55-day period and captured over 9 lakh pictures. The increase in tiger numbers poses challenges, including habitat degradation and man-animal conflicts. Experts recommend implementing the Wildlife Action Plan and transferring the management of nearby sanctuaries to TATR.
